Jim Simpson

Jim Simpson is President of East Daley Capital Advisors, a company dedicated to using energy market fundamental analysis to value assets in the North American Energy Sector. He has seventeen years of experience analyzing and managing energy information and commodity risk in both gas and power.

Prior to starting EDCA, Jim was Vice-President and General Manager for the Platts Power Group. At Platts, Jim managed a $105mm portfolio of energy information assets. As a former owner at BENTEK Energy, LLC, Jim developed and managed the company's analytical team. Jim has modelled large structured transactions in both gas and power for Enron North America as well as traded natural gas.

Jim is widely recognised as the most knowledgeable authority on natural gas flows and capacities in North America, and has authored various articles in the Oil & Gas Journal and other publications.

Ralph Turfus

Ralph Turfus, B.A.Sc., M.A.Sc., M.B.A., P.Eng., has launched eight startup companies in his career, and spent 28 years as the founder and CEO of Class Software (originally Escom Software), which began as a minicomputer sales and distribution company in 1976 and moved on to create registration and booking software for municipal parks and recreation departments, clubs, colleges, and schools.

Ralph trained as an engineer and also spent seven years in the Canadian Air Force. In his years at Class Software, he steered the company through what were the largest changes so far in the history of computer software and data processing industry, from the dawn of minicomputers through the personal computer era to the dominance of the web. He was the sole shareholder, with no venture capital and no debt, leading the firm to 30% annual growth, more than 140 staff, over 730 customers at more than 10,000 individual facilities, and $20 million in revenue.

Don Hitchen

Don Hitchen is a Co-Founder of TICit Hub and served as Chief Financial Officer from 2000 to 2006. Prior to founding TICit Hub, Don worked for several years in financial positions with a number of software companies in Vancouver.

Since 2006, Don has directed his entrepreneurial and business management skills to the entertainment industry. Currently Don is Managing Partner of Time + Works Group, a partnership of independent music companies based in Vancouver. Don has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia, and has earned a Certified Management Accountant designation.

Harry Jaako

Harry Jaako is co-founder and President of Discovery Capital, a Vancouver venture capital firm.  Since 1986, Discovery Capital has raised seven venture capital funds, invested in over sixty BC-based technology ventures, and assisted in the success of some of BC’s top technology companies including; Sierra Wireless, A.L.I. Technologies, TIR Systems, Aspreva Pharmaceuticals, and Avigilon Corporation.  He has also served on the Boards of many other portfolio companies.

For the past eighteen years, Harry has been a member of the Boards of Directors of a succession of Canadian equities, energy, and derivatives exchange enterprises, including: Canadian Venture Exchange, Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Group, TMX Group, Inc., and currently TMX Group Limited, which also acquired the Canadian equities and derivatives clearing houses.

A long-time BC technology and venture capital industry advocate, Harry was finance and venture investment columnist for Business in Vancouver, BC’s business weekly newspaper, for over twenty years. 

Harry has served as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Estonia in BC since 1999.

In his early career, Harry worked with IBM, and DMR Group, a leading Canadian IT management consulting firm.  Harry holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Civil, 1974) from Lakehead University.

Ian Warford

Ian Warford joined TICit Hub in 2016 as Chief Executive Officer and has over thirty years of capital markets and software industry experience. His capital markets expertise is derived from a wide range of roles at UBS, Dresdner Kleinwort Benson and Deutsche Bank. These roles included Head of IT for Northern Europe at UBS, Global Head of e-commerce for FX Equities, Fixed Income and Exchange Traded Derivative Products at Dresdner and Head of Structured Products for Transaction Banking (Financial Institutions) division of Deutsche Bank.  

His software roles include CEO of activAeon, Head of Products at mPorium Group PLC, Head of Capital Markets for Microsoft, Head of Financial Services at Sybase and Head of Financial Services at webMethods. 

Ian holds B.Eng (Hons) and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering.
